Important Notices

February 23, 2010:

At the request of the landowner, the Owl's Head Trail to the summit of Owl's Head is closed from the trailhead at NH 115. Until further notice, please use the southern trailhead to Cherry Mountain and then Martha's Mile to access the summit of Owl's Head and the great views there. This is indeed unfortunate as this trail is approaching it's 100th birthday, having been opened by Eldridge H. Blood and others c1915.

The RMC respects landowner rights and seeks to comply with the wishes of landowners to protect the resource and their investment as well as their privacy and enjoyment of their land, but this further reinforces the need to secure easements, whenever possible, over privately held land, thereby protecting these recreationally and culturally important trails from closure.

If anyone has questions about accessing the summit of Owl's Head, please refer to the RMC guidebook, "Randolph Paths", or AMC's White Mountain Guide. The Cherry Mountain Trail begins on NH 115 about 4 miles (estimate) south of the Owl's Head Trail.
