The RMC trails network extends across the northern slopes of Mts. Madison, Adams and Jefferson in the Presidential Range, in the town of Randolph and on the Crescent Range. Our 67 trails, which add up to one hundred miles in total, are part of a larger regional trail network with trails maintained by the U.S. Forest Service and the Appalachian Club, along with other clubs. One of our trails is part of the Appalachian Trail.
Most RMC trails are located on public land, including the White Mountain National Forest and the Randolph Community Forest, while some trails in the town of Randolph are on privately owned land. Built by volunteers over the course of the twentieth century, the trails are maintained annually by a trained seasonal trail crew.
The northern Presidentials and the Crescent Range offer an outstanding variety of forest and mountain environments, and the RMC’s trails allow a range of hiking experiences year-round: easy or challenging, short or long, alpine or lowland forest. Complete information on the trails can be found in Randolph Paths, the club’s trail guidebook (including a map), now in its 9th edition (2016).
